Occasionally the text within a segment consists of two sets of numbers. For example a file named 20090701.jpg may have associated files such as 20090702.jpg, 20090703.jpg etc. But it may also have associated files for different years and months – such as 20090601.jpg or 20081201.jpg.
You can use the split option on the menu to break a segment into multiple segments. When you split a directory, the Pre-Text stays in the split directory and the Fusk and Post-Text move to a new directory under the split directory. (For an understanding of the portions of a segment refer to What Is A Segment?).
For example, consider the following tree:
The file segment 20090701.jpg has:

Pre-Text:    200907

Fusk:      2 Digits from 1 to 21

Post-Text:  .jpg
By splitting it once we get the following tree:
Where there is now a split directory with:

Pre-Text:    200907

Fusk:      None

Post-Text:  None
And the file now has:

Pre-Text:    None

Fusk:      2 Digits from 1 to 21

Post-Text:  .jpg
You cannot split a split directory, so to separate the 2009 and the 07 you can split the image file again to get the following tree:
In this tree the top split directory and the file are still unchanged, but a new split directory has been placed
between them which has no Pre-Text, no Fusk, and no Post-Text.
Through the use of the Modify option on the menu, you can remove the Pre-Text from the top Split Directory and add a Fusk with 4 digits and the range of 2000 to 2009.
Then use the Modify option to add a Fusk to the middle Split Directory which has 2 digits and a range from 1 to 12. When these edits have been completed you will have a tree which looks like:
Now all three entries are fusked and when you use
to visualize the fusker collection the Expanded View will
reference 3024 images starting with:
